Blogger Fun At The Cowfish

Sunday night I met a bunch of bloggers for dinner at The Cowfish in South Park.  A couple weeks ago I heard that Teri was organizing a meet-up for NC bloggers and responded that I was up for it.  There were several bloggers from my Charlotte circle of friends in attendance but also NC bloggers from elsewhere in NC that I had never met before.  I was excited to finally try The Cowfish after having previewed the menu at Eez Fusion and eaten at The Counter before it became the The Cowfish.

The Cowfish is much bigger inside than The Counter was.  Apparently they expanded into the space next door, which was where we sat.  I liked modern decor and trendy vibe.

All of us perused the huge menu trying to decide what to order.  The possibilities are literally endless, with selections of sushi, burgers, or even combos of both which The Cowfish refers to as "Burgushi".

We started with some appetizers which The Cowfish provided on the house for all of us to try (Thanks Cowfish!!).  I had tried several of them at the Eez Fusion preview dinner, but one was new to me: the Blackened Ahi Tuna Nachos- whoa, so good!

Blackened Ahi Tuna Nachos

Crab Rangoon Dip

Sweet and Spicy Thai Cucumbers

Edamame

Avocado and Ahi Tuna-Tini
After enjoying our appetizers we decided to get on with our gift exchange.  Teri had told us each to bring a gift under $10 to exchange.  We went around the table and chose a gift.  People who chose after you could "steal" your gift or choose a new gift.

Initially I chose a coffee cup, spoon, and bowl, but it was stolen from me, so I ended up with some edible treats from the Pure2Raw twins, which worked out great since I've been dying to try them!

Greg and I each tried a truffle when I got home and they were really good :)

Unable to decide whether I should order a burger or sushi, I ended up choosing a Bento Box so I could have both.  It came with a slider cheese burger, Philly roll sushi, onion strings, edameme, and more cucumber salad.  Everything was really good, but I'm kind of kicking myself that I ordered something so "safe", when The Cowfish has such interesting things to choose from.  Next time I go I need to branch out of my comfort zone and get a crazy burger or inventive sushi since that is sort of the fun of going to a place like Cowfish.

Post dinner we all snapped a bunch of pictures of each other.

Heather from A Side of Sneakers, and Michelle from Pure2Raw.

Michelle, Teri, Diana, Jackie, and Nicole.

Here's a shot of the whole table (minus Tanya).
Nicole, Heather, Michelle, Teri, Diana, Jackie, Jen, Me, Jessie, Lori, and Katie.
Thank you to Teri for organizing, and to The Cowfish for having us and feeding us yummy appetizers :)  I will be back to express my more adventurous side next time!

How fun! How did you hook up with a group of bloggers in your state/hometown? I don't really know anyone around here (Colorado) that blogs. Looks like a good time.

I just knew that $10 gift giving would turn into the Dirty Santa game. I'm sad I missed it!
