6 ways to Sunday

My Sunday ended up being a little more busy than my Saturday.  I started the day with brunch at Zada Jane's.
(yeah, this is pretty much the worst picture ever taken...  Good close-up of the no parking sign on my walk over though!)
I met Chloe and Sarah and we sat outside.  For once it wasn't that humid in Charlotte.  It was warm, but not too bad.  This was my first time eating at Zada Jane's.  Brunch is kinda hectic there, but we didn't wait too long to be seated.  The menu was impressive, but I immediately gravitated towards the amaretto french toast.  It was good, but I actually make a pretty mean french toast myself and I don't know if I could say it was better than mine...  I didn't necessarily taste the amaretto.  I might have to try making this at home sometime.  I like the idea of adding it to the batter :)

Post brunch, I went back to Chloe's for another round of acupuncture on my knee/leg.  This time it didn't go as well as last.  I couldn't relax (perhaps two cups of coffee at brunch didn't help??), and this time every time she was inserting the needles I was feeling the actual needles a lot more and it kind of hurt.  One in particular above my knee did not feel good at all, and I ended up asking her to take that one out.  I sat for about 40 minutes or so.  Again, it may be too soon to tell, but I didn't think this round felt all that good.  Uhhhhh....  At least hanging out with Chloe was fun.  We actually talked a lot about books, since I was perusing her book shelf while she got out her acupuncture supplies.  We have read a lot of the same books, Anita Shreve, Jodi Picoult, Khaled Hosseni, etc....  We also recommended some books to each other.  Any book recommendations?  I have a STACK of books to read, but I can always add more to my list!  Right now I'm reading Eat, Pray, Love.  Just finished the Italy chapter.  I want to get the book read and then go see the movie when it comes out.

After acupuncture it was time to get on with some errands.  Upon leaving Chloe's, I remembered I was close to the Healthy Home Market.  A healthy grocery store that I've passed about 800 times and have never gone in.  This time I went in!
Since I wasn't going strait home, it did limit what I would buy in terms of produce and cold things, so I mainly scoped out the interior aisles.  I ended up getting some macadamia nut butter to try (I'm basically on a quest to try every kind of nut butter...), two packets of Amazing Grass (I've been hearing about this stuff everywhere), and a packet of Vega powder.  The big canisters of Amazing Grass and Vega were like $40!  I figured I'd try the packets and see how they are.

After Healthy Home Market, I proceeded to the South Park Mall.  I was there to buy wedding presents for Kelly.  Mission accomplished, but I can't say what I got, as Kelly reads my blog!  While at South Park, I did take a slight detour into Banana Republic and Ann Taylor Loft (my favs!) and came out with a dress, skirt, and tank top.  All were on sale, so it's ok, right!?
Leaving the mall I noticed the new Yoforia was open and had to drag myself out of there, as by this time it was after 4pm, and my brunch had definitely worn off, so I was starving!  I was carrying some heavy bags and the line at Yoforia was long though, so I decided to just go home and whip up something.
Something ended up being a round of bok-choy stir-fry this time with leftover Quinoa.  I really really love this stuff...  :)  So gingery and yummy...

Later on I took Clyde for a walk.  While walking I was thinking about the abundance of oatmeal we have from Costco and how I've never made my own granola.  When I got back, I decided to make a batch of peanut butter granola.  I used this basic recipe. I did sub out about half the honey for Agave syrup though.

I tried a couple spoonfuls after it came out of the oven and it was pretty yummy.  Clyde seemed to like it too (he pretty much likes anything PB flavored).  It didn't seem to really clump all that well compared to store bought granola.  I may play around with that again in the future if I make more.  Have you ever made granola?  Any suggestions or good recipes I should try?  I think this will be a great topper for yogurt and banana soft serve.

I love trying the supplement powders in packets too, thats what I did with Mazing grass and good thing because I didn't like it. A whole canister just seems like too much of an investment if you have never tried it before. I can't wait to hear what you think about the Vega, because I haven't tried it yet and I have been wondering about it.

Oh your pb granola looks yum. Clyde and I have the same taste :) Amaretto french toast does sound really yummy, but I'm sorry it wasn't. You had such a productive weekend!

I love Healthy Home Market! I usually findd unique buys in there and the prices aren't too ridiculous. Amazing Grass is great but I agree, the price for the huge tub is ridiculous so I get a packet or two and use a bit in each one for my green monsters.

I would love to do lunch or a doggie playdate sometime! Everyone I know has a big dog so when I see a small dog pet owner, I get really excited! Let me knoe when either works for you :)

haha! I know what you mean. I've wanted to post your bridesmaid gift forever, but definitely can't do that! I had the same issue with granola the other week, but I'm going to keep at it. If you figure out how to make it clumpy let me know. I'm sorry your knee is still bothering you. :(

mmmm brunch :) Currently I'm reading Atonement (actually, that's a lie, I've been reading it for two months at a sloth's pace), and on deck I have Running With Scissors. I saw Atonement before reading, but RWS I'm going to do the right, opposite way :)
