Sunday Dinner and More Importantly Dessert

After we got home from camping and apple picking Sunday, I made us dinner.  Greg requested tempeh with orange sauce.  I cut a block of tempeh into cubes, browned them in a little peanut oil, added thawed green beans to the pan, then a couple tablepoons of PF Chang's orange sauce.

Then it was time to dive into the peck of apples we picked.  You know how I was just saying I have this whole area of cookbooks in my cabinet and I rarely use them?  Well, I figured this would be a good opportunity to search them for a good apple recipe.
I picked up my Bride and Groom First and Forever Cookbook, which was a wedding present.  I found an apple crisp recipe, and decided I would go with it.  I pretty much followed the recipe to a T, so I don't think I should post it, but you know where to find it if you are wanting to replicate this.

The cookbook stand was a present from my mom last Christmas.

Apple Crisp!

After

Let's take a closer look at that yummy topping...

I went all out and even whipped up some fresh whipped cream since I had some heavy cream sitting in the fridge.

It was pretty delish.

Your desserts always look so delicious.

I can't believe greg requests tempeh. That's awesome. I made a tofu stirfry for dinner over the weekend. I didn't understand why the hubby started looking under his plate when I put it on the table. He said was looking for the meat. Men.

1) I can't believe your husband requested tempeh. Mine is so sweet and will try anything once but I'm fairly certain after trying tempeh he will never request it!
2) Mmm...apple crisp. I really need to make an apple pie or crisp soon!

Yeah, it's interesting, Greg is actually more of a vegetarian than I am a lot of the time. He's definitely more likely to pick a vegetarian item off of a menu than me when we go out to eat. I wrote a post a while back that talked about his perspective:
