Tour of Panthers Stadium

Today was sort of an "employee day" at work.  We got to take a tour of the Charlotte Panther's Stadium.  Our stadium is right in downtown Charlotte only a couple blocks from my office building.

I've lived in Charlotte for 4 years now and have yet to attend a Panthers game.  Truth be told, I'm not a big football person.  This is definitely evidenced by the fact that I went to Ohio State, a Big Ten school and a school known for it's fanatical football fans, and pretty much never know what's going on with the team during the season!  Shameful, I know.  I'm more of a baseball and basketball person.  I actually like almost any sport live, so if I got the opportunity to go to a Panther's game, I would probably go.

We met our tour guide and started by entering the stands.

Panthers Stadium is pretty new, it was built in 1994.

The stadium has natural Bermuda grass and has been voted the second favorite grass stadium in the NFL, second to Tampa Bay.

Next up, we headed to the locker room.  We actually went to the visitors locker room.

Here was our tour guide.  He was actually incredibly knowledgeable, not only about the stadium, but about the players, the NFL in general and promptly answered any questions thrown at him.

Next we headed to the skyboxes.
They are swaaaaaaaaaaaaaanky :)
I think the tour guide said they go for $400 a head.

After seeing the skyboxes we also passed through some media areas, but they weren't that interesting.  There were some barebones boxes and a room with a bunch of TVs.

Last on the tour was the Luxury Bar, which is only available to people on the middle (fancy) level.

As previously mentioned, I'm not a huge football person, so this wasn't terribly exciting for me, but since I pass the stadium almost every day to and from work, it's nice to know what it looks like in there!  Hopefully someday I'll go to a game and I can share my stadium knowledge with whoever I'm with!
