Ok, here we are at Day 5 of the 30 Day Challenge (technically I posted Day 4 today too, since it was about last night). Today is: A picture of your favorite memory.
Well, I'd say my wedding day and my honeymoon are my favorite memories. My wedding day was truly awesome and I will never forget it, but since you've likely seen pictures from my wedding day, I will give you pictures from my honeymoon in Hawaii, which is also a spectacular memory.
A little background on my honeymoon. For those of you married to pilots (I know a couple of my readers are), you know that you don't have a lot of control over scheduling, even when it comes to things like weddings and honeymoons. It was actually a small miracle that my husband was able to get off for four days for the actual wedding. So, Greg getting time off for a honeymoon immediately following the wedding was not going to happen. In fact we had quite a few guests come to our wedding that had more time off for the event than we did! What we ended up doing was to wait for my hubby's vacation time, which he also had very little control over. He ended up getting his vacation in February the following year (2007), so that's when we had our belated honeymoon to Hawaii.
In addition to waiting nine months to go on a honeymoon, we also decided to go with friends! Yes, I know, we're terribly unromantic. Our friends Melanie and Benji had been to Hawaii on their honeymoon two years before. They wanted to go again, knew the islands fairly well, and also (this is the big one) were willing to kind of PLAN the whole trip for us. I'm not much of a planner when it comes to trips to places I haven't been before, and Benji was all over finding things for us to do, places to stay, etc... He was like a travel agent. It was awesome.
In February of 2007 we left the dreary winter and headed to paradise. We went to Oahu and Maui. Here are some pictures of my memories of Hawaii :)
FYI, those first four pictures were from
The Turtle Bay Resort in Oahu. That's where Forgetting Sarah Marshall was filmed, so when I watch the movie, I also think of our awesome trip. It was my favorite part of Hawaii and if you are ever going, I highly recommend it.

Wow- it almost sounds like Greg is in the Army with that rigid of a work schedule!! Gorgeous pictures - I'd love to go to Hawaii one day. Gotta work on that tan first, though ;)
I'm dying to get to Hawaii. What a nice honeymoon. I bet you were able to enjoy it even more having some time to decompress after the wedding.
DH started his first airline job the Monday we got back from our honeymoon. We totally lucked out on the timing there. Weddings and child birth are the biggies. I don't get bent out of shape about anything else really. Pretty much anything else can be rescheduled.
Looks amazing! Hopefully we get to go someday. :-)
oh, how I LOVE this post!! :) my dad is from Hawaii, and I grew up spending my summers there... whenever I see photos from any of the islands I want to be there... :)
I've always wanted to go to Hawaii- what a fabulous belated honeymoon! And with friends? Extra fun :)
I have never been to Hawaii but would love to go! It looks so gorgeous and you look like you had a blast. I don't think there's anything wrong with going with friends, sometimes the more the merrier!
This is exactly the reason we are getting married this July but not going on a honeymoon until 2012 sometime. :)
We went to Kauai last March/April for our honeymoon and I want to go back!
btw, I LOVE forgetting sarah marshall and I think it is so cool that you stayed at that hotel!
