Yeah, I think once this desire gets a hold of you it's hard to just sit back and let nature takes its course. You want to be proactive, especially when you have circumstances like mine with a husband that's gone a lot! Anyway, hopefully your prayers, baby dust, and happy thoughts will help make my dream come true!
So we're at Day 07 of the 30 Day Challenge - A picture of your most treasured item.
I have to admit this was a hard one. I felt like it had to be a tangible (non-living) item, and I did rack my brain. My car? My Ipod? I settled on my engagement ring, which I think is a good one. It gives me the opportunity to show you my ring and tell our engagement story, so I figured that was a good item to choose. First, let me apologize, I could not get a great shot of my ring! I tried and tried and was having some camera issues, so hopefully you can kind of see it in the pictures I included.
A little background on Greg and I. We met in 2001 and moved in together after only about six months of dating. Thus, he was definitely getting the milk for free so to speak ;). After four long years, I was really beginning to wonder if he would ever marry me and starting to get kind of irritated about the whole thing. Finally, he seemed to warm up to the idea and we started doing some ring shopping. After a couple months, we could walk into a jewerly store and I had trained him well on what I liked and didn't like, so I knew it was up to him from there.
On the Friday before my birthday in 2005, I got home from a long day of work in DC/VA to a lazy pilot who was engrossed in an intense video game. There were dishes piled in the sink, the house was a mess, and I was less than pleased. An argument ensued. It was one of those straw-that-broke-the-camels-back arguments and I definitely dragged "why aren't we engaged yet?" into the argument. I told him I didn't want to be jerked around looking at rings if it was never going to happen. It was kind of a big fight, and Greg actually ended up blurting out that he had bought me a ring. We were leaving for Greenville, SC the next day for a little get away and he been planning to propose there. Now with the cat out of the bag and both of us not sure what to do, he ended up just asking me right there in the bedroom at our house. I always say it's the worst engagement story ever, but I mostly I don't really care. It was just a relief to be asked after so long!
We took our trip to Greenville the next day and walked through the park where he had intended to propose.
The ring is actually on my middle finger in this picture, because we had to have my ring sized the week after, it was a tad big.
My ring is a platinum ring with a round cut center stone and two baguette diamonds on the sides. It's a cathedral setting. I also had my wedding band made (at Jared) to fit together with my engagement ring, because the cathedral setting makes it stick out so a normal band wouldn't have fit well with it. Anyway, Greg did a good job. I love my ring :)

sounds like a good catch to me! Praying for your baby plans!

LOL - I think your SIL is onto something. My sister had a very hard time conceiving her first, but she went to the races, got hammered and was quite soon pregnant!
Gorgeous ring - and at least you have a story to tell. ;-)
Our engagement story isn't very exciting either so don't worry about it. :-) And I really like they style. Simple and classy.
Mines almost the same way. David and I were picking out rings and he was planning on going back the next day to pick it up. But I was too excited and ending up asking him right there in the mall if we were getting engaged. He still surprised me though when the ring came in. :-)
Haha, I feel like engagements after many years of dating (like mine was) never go off without a hitch... there is always a convo (usually a yelling one ;)) in there about why aren't we engaged yet! So you're not alone!
I'm glad I wasn't the only one in the anxious boat. Although we didn't pick our rings together (I was completely surprised he got it all by himself and did such an amazing job!) I was getting a little antsy. Our engagement took place in my parents laundry room...so let's embrace our stories. :)
Good luck with getting pregnant! I am also a pilots wife, with quite the history of infertility. Let me know if you ever want to chat! I'm over at 3hearts2hold1love-emms@blogspot.com.
Wow that's a crazy story :) glad it worked out in the end hehe... and this baby thing will too soon! You'll see :)
haha...I will have to share my story with you when I see you in a week!
